How can I become a member of the choir?
We’re thrilled that you’re interested in joining! During the audition, our main goal is to get to know you and your voice. We listen to how you sing and what your voice range is—not to judge you, but to see how we can make beautiful music together.
You don’t need to be perfect; we are mainly looking for people who can sing reasonably well, enjoy singing, and fit in with our group. Sometimes we have more need for certain voice groups (like sopranos or basses), which can mean that we loved your audition, but that we don’t have space for you at that time. We always look for the best way for you to fit in.
Remember: everyone was a beginner once, and we all started with an audition.
When are the auditions and how can I sign up?
We hold auditions twice a year, depending on the amount of open spots we have in the choir. Auditions take place in the evening at our rehearsal space.

Where do you rehearse?
We rehearse at ZIMIHC Theater Wittevrouwen, which is also where auditions take place. There’s a bus stop around the corner. Parking is limited, so it’s better to use the Griftpark parking lot.
I don’t live in Utrecht. Can I still join?
Most of our choir members live in Utrecht, but we also have members from other towns, such as Driebergen and Amsterdam. So even if you don’t live in Utrecht, you’re very welcome to audition. Please note that we do not reimburse travel costs.
How much is the contribution?
The contribution for DynamiQ Voices will be €27,50 per month (you can also choose to pay per quarter) and will be used for personnel costs (choir director), the music, any material costs, the rent of the rehearsal location. There will also be a one time ‘signing up’ fee of €12.50 which will also go towards paying the above mentioned costs of the choir. We do have a reduced tariff available for people who need it; this tariff is €22,50 per month.
I don’t identify as queer. Can I join?
Think about whether this choir is the right fit for you. Even if you haven’t fully explored your identity yet, this can still be the right place. If you are certain that you are not part of the queer community, it’s worth considering whether another choir might be a better fit. How is DynamiQ Voices organized?
DynamiQ Voices is an association. This means that to keep our choir running smoothly, some members take on voluntary tasks. These can range from a small one-time task to year round participation in the board of in one of our committees. We have various committees, such as a Diversity Committee, Repertoire Committee, Concert Committee and PR Committee.
This voluntary contribution ensures everything our choir does runs smoothly. Joining a committee is not required, but it’s a great way to contribute to the choir in your own way.
